I have completed the full teacher’s pedagogical qualification (60 credits) in unversity pedagogy at the University of Turku Faculty of Education. This taught me about planning effective, student-centered lectures and group sessions.
I have taught English department courses ranging from literature and North American Studies to second language acquisition research methodologies along with writing courses, both academic and creative. I am a flexible, resourceful university teacher, and have often taken on classes that a department has needed to be covered on a short notice.
As a teacher, I am committed to doing my very best to help students. I believe in learning-oriented teaching, where students are asked to actively process information, and in formative assessment, which means, for example, giving students constructive feedback to help them see what they have done well and where they may need to do more work.
Since August 2023, I work as University Lecturer at the University of Eastern Finland (English Language and Culture, School of Humanities). I teach a variety of literature courses on basic and advanced levels and academic writing and communication courses. I also worked at UEF in 2020-2021.
